Midjourney character layers
Midjourney character to layers means separating an AI-generated character image into the figure, outfit, props, and background, so you can edit one part without rerolling the prompt and losing the face you liked.
For creators who finally got the right face from Midjourney, Niji, or another image model, and need to change the outfit, the background, or one prop without starting over.

Drop an image to split it into layers
Separate the subject, text, and background, then move or resize any layer.
1
Use the upscaled Midjourney or Niji image. Avoid grid images with four variations.
2
Solo layers until you know which one contains the face. Do not edit that one unless you mean to.
3
Recolor (3 credits) or Replace (4 credits) the outfit or prop layer, or hide the background.

Download the PSD or PNG ZIP, or compose a new scene in PhotoCraft.
Edit a layer that does not contain the face, and the face stays pixel-identical.
Recolor an outfit, replace a prop, or swap the background plate instead of rerolling.
Reuse the separated figure on new backgrounds for a consistent series of images.
Region editing inside image generators repaints the area you select, and the result often shifts lighting, line weight, or the face. Separating first gives you hard boundaries: a layer you do not touch cannot change. That is the main reason AI artists split before editing.
For general AI image edits, including fixing hands and text, see edit an AI-generated image and AI image to layers.
Split your best render once and keep the figure layer. Place it on new backgrounds, adjust its size and position, and change the outfit color for variants. That gives a set of images where the face is truly identical, which prompt-based consistency does not guarantee.
For dress-up style variations, see paper doll layers.

Yes, if you only edit layers that do not include the face. Check the solo view first.
No. Pose changes need a new generation. Layers let you move and resize parts, not re-pose them.
One free 1K preview split per day without an account, watermarked and not exportable. A full 2K split is 5 credits and includes both the PSD and the PNG ZIP, whatever the layer count. Credits come back automatically when a split fails. The 100-credit Starter pack is a one-time payment, not a subscription.
Yes — you can split one image per day at 1K without an account to preview the layers. Full-resolution 2K layers and PSD/PNG ZIP export use 5 credits per split.
A layered Photoshop PSD where every element is its own named, transparent layer at its original position, or a ZIP of transparent PNGs plus a composite.
Posters, product shots, social graphics, characters and AI-generated images with clear subjects. Very busy photos can merge small details into one layer.
Credits are refunded automatically when a split fails or times out.
Uploads are used only to create your layers and are not shown publicly or used for training.
Yes, you can use exported layers from your own images in commercial work.
