AI image to layers
AI image to layers takes a finished generation — Midjourney, ChatGPT, Flux, or another model — and separates it so one element can change without rolling the whole picture again.
Split a generated picture so one object, one caption, or the background can change without rolling the whole image again.

Drop an image to split it into layers
Separate the subject, text, and background, then move or resize any layer.
1
Download the JPG or PNG from the generator. Image Layered does not connect to Midjourney or ChatGPT accounts.
2
Subject, outfit, props, text, and background come back as layers. The winning composition stays the reference.
3
A hand, a logo, a caption, or a background is the usual target. Solo it before you edit.
4
Hide it, recolor it, replace it, or retype a caption. Leave the face and the crop alone.
5
PSD, PNG ZIP, or a saved project. PhotoCraft can open the PSD in the browser.
Untouched layers stay pixel-identical.
Replace or recolor only the layer that is wrong.
Download a layered PSD or a ZIP of PNGs.
Generated images are often approved for the crop, the face, and the light. The note is small: the jacket, the extra finger, the caption, the background. A new prompt redraws all of it. Splitting is the alternative. You keep the pixels that were right and you touch the layer that was not.
Midjourney, ChatGPT, and other generators are the same kind of source here. The older guide about modifying a Midjourney image points at this page because the intent is the same: separate the generation, then edit. Edit an AI-generated image is the narrower page for the edit itself once you already know which layer is wrong.
Captions burned into an AI image are pixels. Edit text draws new words into that layer. Remove text hides the caption and shows the filled background. Neither tool restores a font the generator never had.
Recolor (3 credits) is the control for “make the jacket black” when the shape should stay. Replace (4 credits) redraws one layer when the object should change. The face layer stays out of the edit if you do not select it. That is not a guarantee the split isolated the face; check the stack.
Save the project when a client will ask for a second pass. The stack remains available. Open PhotoCraft if the next step is manual layer work in the browser.
A full-resolution 2K split costs 5 credits and includes the PSD and the PNG ZIP. The price does not grow with the number of layers. Arranging a project and downloading a finished export do not add another charge. A failed or timed-out split is refunded. Guests can run one 1K preview a day and cannot export that preview.
Export the still from the generator at the size you actually want to keep. A tiny preview separates into mush. Upload that export and split it once. Solo the face, the clothes, the background, and any caption as four checks, even if the stack has more layers than that. You are looking for leaks: an earring on the background, a hand on the jacket, a watermark across everything.
Write down which layer you will touch. If the note is “black jacket”, recolor the jacket layer and do not replace the body. If the note is “remove the caption”, use remove text on the caption layer only. If the note is “the sign should say the new slogan”, use edit text and bring the slogan with you. The page edit an AI-generated image walks the edit in more detail. This page is the decision to split instead of reroll.
Save the project before the client call. A saved stack is how you show the before and after without running the separator again. PhotoCraft is the fallback when a layer boundary is almost right and a mask would finish it. The split remains 5 credits at 2K. You are not charged per Midjourney variation you did not run.
Do not tell a client the face is protected until you have hidden every other layer and looked. Generated hair is the most common reason a “clothes only” replace still changes the person. If the hair and the collar are one layer, say so and reroll in the generator, or accept a wider edit.
Reroll when the whole framing is wrong. Split when the framing is right and one piece is not. That rule keeps this page from competing with the generator. Upload the export you would have shipped, not a contact sheet. After the split, write the layer you will edit in the project name so the next pass does not replace the face by habit. The 1K guest preview is only a look. The exportable result is the 2K split at 5 credits.
Link the edit forward instead of repeating it. Captions go to edit text or remove text. A color note goes to recolor at 3 credits. A wrong object goes to replace at 4 credits, and only on the layer that contains it. If you cannot name that layer, you are not ready to edit, and another prompt in the generator is the honest next step. Save that decision in the project name so the next person does not rerun the separator just to remember which piece was wrong.
A generation with baked-in UI chrome, such as a fake phone screenshot, often fuses the caption to the device. Treat that as one layer unless the split proves otherwise. You can still export the PSD and finish the crop in PhotoCraft. You should not promise that every icon on the fake screen became its own layer.

Yes, as files. Export JPG, PNG, or WebP and upload it. There is no account link to those products.
Only if the split put the face and the clothes on different layers and you edit the clothes layer. Check before you replace anything.
Yes. Remove text hides the caption layer. The background plate was filled during the split.
5 credits for the 2K split, then 3 for recolor or 4 for replace if you use those edits.
No. The upload is the image file. The prompt, seed, and generator account are not used.
Yes — you can split one image per day at 1K without an account to preview the layers. Full-resolution 2K layers and PSD/PNG ZIP export use 5 credits per split.
A layered Photoshop PSD where every element is its own named, transparent layer at its original position, or a ZIP of transparent PNGs plus a composite.
Posters, product shots, social graphics, characters and AI-generated images with clear subjects. Very busy photos can merge small details into one layer.
Credits are refunded automatically when a split fails or times out.
Uploads are used only to create your layers and are not shown publicly or used for training.
Yes, you can use exported layers from your own images in commercial work.
